Melbourne

Melbourne (4 mln. inhabitants) - The second largest city in Australia, Victoria the capital and the southern city-millionaire in the world. Melbourne is known for its science; in particular, of special interest are methods of planning for sustainable development of small cities and territories that can be successfully applied in Russia. Forming partnerships with Australian scientists and the exchange of experiences in the field of sustainable development - one of the objectives of the conference.

Protvino

Naukograd Protvino with population of about 40 thousands inhabitants located in the southern part of Moscow region, 100 km from Moscow. Protvino is a typical "Akademgorodok", or Science City - the territory of priority development of fundamental science and innovative, breakthrough technologies. City created half a century ago, was intended to become a center for the development of high-energy physics in the Soviet Union; here was built a proton accelerator on the energy of 70 GeV. A long time it was the largest installation of its kind in the world. In the current era Protvino forced to adapt to the changes taking place in the country and in the World.

In the era of the structural crisis of the 1990s and 2000s Protvino, like the rest of the Russian science cities, faced with the need to flexibly optimize their potential in order to ensure its own sustainable development in a rapidly changing environment. As such, it is typical and may be considered as a platform for developing advanced sustainable technologies.
